We made it home!

Well, after a very long commute, we are home!  I think today will be filled with... well, laying in bed.  I would do laundry but we don't have luggage!

Our flight was supposed to take us from Japan to Minnesota, and then home.  Instead, when we arrived to Minnesota it was complete chaos.  A power outage cancelled all of the regional flights through any of the smaller delta flights.  We were taking Comair, so, cancelled.

I was an emotional wreck.  Now that we were on American soil, I just wanted to go home.  All Cincinnati flights were cancelled indefinitely.  We took a look at the long lines and knew if we stood in them we would be there forever.  So, we got on the phone with Delta reservations who were very helpful (unlike any of the employees at the airport.  It really made me miss Japan the professionalism of the workers.  So different than America.)  Delta got us on two seperate flights to Atlanta, and then two seperate flights to Cincinnati from there.  Bobby waited on standby and was able to get on my flight, so we flew together to Atlanta.  From there, we called again and were able to get on the same flight to Cincinnati too.

We arrived in Cincinnati around 10:30.  Finally.  We were supposed to get in around 6.  We were exhausted.  We talked to the luggage people who told us our luggage was still in Minnesota.  We weren't surprised even though countless people told us it would be in Cincinnati.  They are hoping our luggage will make it here today but they were still cancelling flights as of last night so who knows when they will get here.  Toothbrushes, and clothes can be replaced, but I am worried about our souvenirs from Japan!  I am sure they will get here eventually but I really hope they aren't broken!

Our good friends, Jennifer and Nick, picked us up from the airport (many thanks!!) and we were finally home.

Big thank you to Corrie and Chad who stopped by our house to feed our dog, and play with him a little bit.  They also made our bed... so nice to come home and just crash!

Thanks to everyone who followed us on this journey!  Until our next adventure... :)

Delta Scrambles after MSP Power Outage as Gates Reopen

Over 250 flights cancelled on Saturday

Delta is scrambling to catch up after more than 250 flights were cancelled during an all-day power outage at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
Delta and its affiliates say passengers should call to check on their flight status before heading to the airport.
Power has since been restored to concourses A, C and D. Emergency backup generators powered life-safety systems during the outage, which affected the use of airline systems, heating and cooling systems, restrooms, restaurants and retail stores.
The power is still out at concourse B, which is affecting regional flights. A total of 16 gates are still closed.
Those who were stranded were given food and hotel vouchers, but a few hundred passengers camped out overnight in the terminal.
The cause of the outage remains under investigation.
